Culture

Luxembourg was chosen as Europe's capital for Culture both in 1995 and in 2007, which paved the way to new cultural institutions and to a thriving cultural scene.

Some of the important annual cultural events in Luxembourg include the internationally renowned festival of classical music in Echternach and the European Festival of Open-Air Theatre and Music in Wiltz.

Many of Luxembourg’s performing arts venues and museums are more than just cultural locations – they are architectural gems in their own right:

Woody Allen and his New Orleans Jazz Band, Jane Birkin, Wayne Shorter and Grigory Sokolov have already been performing at the Philharmonie.

With its museums, cinemas, its multilingual theatre scene, its numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art and its concert halls, Luxembourg offers an exceptional cultural program.
