Luxembourg enjoys economic prosperity and one of the highest standards of living worldwide. It has the highest per capita income in the world.

Luxembourg also is a very safe country. Luxembourg-city has been declared "the world’s top city for personal safety and security" by Mercer Human Resource Consulting (March 2005).

Luxembourg ranks 4th Best Country in the world to live in by the Quality of Life Index 2008, taking into account income, health, freedom, unemployment, family life, climate, political stability and security and gender equality.

Luxembourg also is the country with the highest levels of satisfaction with living conditions:  95% of the residents are happy with the quality of life in Luxembourg and with their standard of living according to the Eurobarometer 273 "Social Reality" 2007.
