9 out of 10 Luxembourg residents have access to the Internet

In Luxembourg, 87% of households are connected to the Internet. According to a survey by the Statistical Office of the European Communities Eurostat conducted during the first quarter of 2009, only the Netherlands have a higher rate with 90%, while the European average reaches 65%.

58% of all Luxembourg residents said they had already ordered goods or services over the web (compared to 37% in the EU).

Generally speaking, the Internet is very popular in Luxembourg. 83% of those aged 16 to 24 say they are online daily or almost daily, while the rate for those aged 16 to 74 is still an impressive 71%. These figures put Luxembourg users well ahead of the European average of 73% and 48% respectively.
