A simple search can be started from any page of the site by using the "search" field, that is always located in the top right-hand corner.
You can fill in one or several expressions. The search results will show all the html pages and the other formats of indexed documents (such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and PDF files), that contain the searched word(s).
At he display of the simple search results, a link allows you to start an advanced search.
Advanced search allows you to narrow your search by specifying several parameters:
The search results will show all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents, which contain the searched word(s) ( simple search).
Ex: " speech Minister data centers " will find all the html pages, which contain at the same the words "speech", "Minister" "data" and "centers".
The search results will show all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents, which contain exactly the expression filled in (in the order in which the words were entered in the search box).
Ex: " speech of the Minister on data centers " will find all the pages, which contain exactly this expression.
The search results will show all the pages, which contain at least one of the searched words.
Ex: " speech Minister data centers " will find all the html pages and other formats of indexed documents, which contain either the word "speech", or the word "Minister" or the word "data", or the word "centers", or those, which contain several of these words.
Each of the 3 functions described above can be associated with the function of excluding one or several word(s).
Ex: A search of " electronic commerce speech " with the value "all the following words " in the first field and "Minister" filled in under " any of the following words " will find all the html pages (and other formats of indexed documents) which contain the words "speech", "data" and "centers" BUT NOT the word "Minister".
You can narrow your search to one or several heading(s) / sub-heading(s) of the site. (Default value is "The whole site", e.g. a search on all the headings of the site, as for a simple search). To select several heading(s) and/or sub-heading(s), hold the "CTRL" key down and click on the desired heading.
You can narrow your search to documents of a given period by specifying the date of the beginning and the date of the end of such period. The default value is "anytime".
You can start a search either on the overall contents - titles and texts - of the indexed documents (default value), or only on the document titles (e.g. to specify the search).
You can choose the number of results to be posted per page (10, 20 or 50) and determine whether the list of results will be sorted out by relevance (default value), by date or by type of document (html files, MS Word files, RTF files, PDF files, etc.).
The search results are presented in the following manner:
At the bottom of the page, you can browse through the number of pages of results found.
